Veritas Academy seeks to provide a classical and Christian education for homeschooled students. The curriculum as a whole is rigorous and stresses literary excellence along with sound reasoning in the Biblical and Western tradition. We provide students an intellectual challenge that will prepare them to both proclaim and defend the faith.
We exist to help students of homeschooling families acquire knowledge and a love for learning, while also developing critical reasoning and communication skills.
Veritas Academy, as a study center, fosters a vital partnership between the academy and the home-- where parents and teachers work together to create a climate in which students can grow in knowledge, character, and faith.
Veritas Academy offers the Christian homeschooling family a tried and proven method for educating students to become confident and articulate thinkers-- able to read perceptively, express themselves well, and grasp the great ideas that have shaped Western civilization; all of which equip students to confront the challenges of modern society, technology, and culture.
The Classical approach is based on a system developed in antiquity. It consists of three stages and is generally referred to as the “Trivium.” The following sections provide a brief description of each stage of the Trivium and our approach to them.
At this early stage, the focus is on learning and memorizing fundamental facts related to the primary disciplines. In addition to acquiring basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills, grammar students should be learning a time-line for history and essential concepts in science. Veritas recommends this stage be accomplished primarily in the home and offers no supplemental classes at this level.
Students begin to take facts learned in the Grammar stage and explore relationships between these facts. Logic courses will be offered at these grade levels to help develop critical thinking skills.
In the rhetoric stage, students learn to express acquired knowledge more effectively through writing and rhetorical address. This level will be college preparatory in nature.
We are associate members of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools. The primary mission of the ACCS is to promote, establish, and equip schools committed to a classical approach to education in light of a Christian worldview grounded in Old and New Testament Scripture.
We believe the Old and New Testaments in the original languages to be the infallible and inerrant Word of God alone.
We believe there is one living, eternal, self-sufficient God; who is triune in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; who created all things, visible and invisible, for His own glory and purpose; and by whose power the world is sustained.
We believe that Jesus is both divine and human. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal, visible return in power and glory to judge both the living and the dead in accordance with the historic Apostles’ and Nicene creeds.
We believe that God created man and woman in His own image to live holy and blameless before Him; that all mankind were corrupted by the sin of Adam, and are born in sin; that sinful men (and women) are justified by faith in God and His righteousness alone, through Jesus Christ alone, by his grace alone; and that faith without works is dead.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, and in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit—by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a godly life.
