Why Veritas?
Veritas Academy immerses students in exceptional and challenging educational experiences. As a private school, the environment allows for these experiences through a shared philosophy, smaller class sizes, committed teachers, enrichment opportunities, and extracurricular activities. As an education partner, we offer to serve as either a primary or a supplementary educational experience to families.
Classical Approach
Veritas Academy utilizes a classical approach to education, the Trivium—Grammar, Dialetic and Rhetoric. We focus specifically on the two stages that correlate to the middle school and high school grades to help develop critical thinking skills and teach tools of learning in preparation for college.
“For the sole end of education is simply this: to teach men how to learn for themselves; and whatever instruction fails to do this is effort spent in vain.” (Sayers, The Lost Tools of Learning)
Christian Mission
Veritas Academy provides a biblically-based curriculum and teaches subjects as parts of an integrated whole with the Scriptures at the center. Students learn the truth and relevancy of God’s Word that will prepare them to proclaim and defend the faith.
He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14.6). He prayed for his disciples and asked His Father to “sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth” (John 17.17).
University Model
Students attend classes at the Veritas Academy campus either two or three days per week, depending on the courses taken. Veritas serves students who need to take a single class or a full course load or anything in between. Students complete weekly homework, including teacher-directed assignments and exams. Teachers are available for outside support via email, Skype, and phone. This approach teaches your children time management and study skills that will help them tremendously should they further their education.
Homeschooling Partnership
For families who wish to supplement the course work being studied at home, we offer the opportunity for students to attend Veritas on a part-time basis. Students may take select classes two or three days a week with our dedicated teaching staff. This teaching partnership fosters a vital relationship between the academy and the homeschooling family.
By following the commands of Scripture, parents and teachers create a climate in which students grow in knowledge, character, and faith. Paul’s instruction in Ephesians, “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition (the paideia, i.e., the rearing of a child, training, discipline, and chastening) of the Lord” serves as a guideline.
Affordable Tuition
As a university model school, Veritas Academy offers one of the best values in private education in Central Ohio when compared to traditional Christian schools. Many teachers work part-time, which provides for an affordable full-time and part-time student tuition.
Central Ohio Location
Being a private school in Columbus, Ohio, we serve a diverse student body from all around Central Ohio. Students come from Sunbury, Delaware, Lancaster, Grove City, Pickerington, and other surrounding towns.
