Dress Code Policy
DRESS CODE POLICY
- Purpose
Veritas Academy is a workplace for students as well as for teachers. As such, students should dress in such a way as to demonstrate their respect for the school, teachers and their own vocation as a student and representative of Christ. In so doing, students can come to recognize that education is not just an intellectual endeavor, but also a cultural one where clothing is conducive to academics and not a distraction from the work at hand. Therefore, Veritas requires students to wear uniforms in the following manner when attending school:
- Dress neatly: all shirts tucked in, shoes tied, no holes/tears in clothes, clothing appropriately- sized for the wearer
- Be clean: consistent grooming practices should be adhered to: hair neatly groomed; facial hair must be conservative and neatly trimmed.
- Be modest: uniform shirts and pants cannot be snug or revealing, and skirts must reach the knee. No midriffs or any part of the torso may be exposed.

Dress Down Days
Several days throughout the year will be designated as dress-down days. Currently, all Pizza Days and Fridays (due to PE and Art) are dress-down days.
Dress-down days are a fun opportunity for students to wear clothing of their choice while continuing to follow our Dress Code Expectations of being neat, well-groomed, modest, and appropriately dressed.
To ensure an appropriate school environment, the following items may not be worn:
- Sleeveless or spaghetti-strap tops.
- Short (inseam < 5 inches) or skin tight shorts. Skirts shorter than the top of the knee.
- Pajamas or slippers.
- Hats or sunglasses inside the building.
- Clothing that exposes the midriff..
- Clothing with inappropriate graphics, slogans, or images (e.g., references to alcohol, offensive language or humor, or other content inconsistent with our school values).
- Ripped or distressed jeans with exposed skin.
- Leggings unless worn under a skirt, dress, or tunic-length top that reaches the knee.
If there is a question about whether an item is appropriate, the school administration will make the final determination.
