Mrs. Maria Couto
Maria Francesca Couto received her Medical Degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico in 2001. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Endocrinology Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics in Madison, WI in 2007. She worked as a Clinical Endocrinologist and Faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and later on at the University of Birmingham in Alabama. In 2020 the family moved to Dublin, OH as her husband, Dr. Carlo Contreras, joined the surgical oncology faculty at The OSU James Cancer Hospital. It was during this time they made the decision to homeschool their 3 children, joining a Classical Conversations Community and directing the Foundations & Essentials program for 3 years. Homeschool has been a journey for the entire family, growing them closer to God’s truth in the Word of God, growing in virtue, and aspiring to love HIM with all their heart, soul, and mind. Francesca grew up in Puerto Rico and traveled many times to Spain to visit her father’s family. She is excited to share the knowledge of her native tongue and her multicultural heritage.
